פרק קיט (Chapter 119) is the longest chapter in Sefer Tehillim. It contains 176 Pesukim (sentences) arranged according to the letters of the Alephbet. Every 8 Pesukim begins with the same letter in ascending order. There is a custom to recite the Pesukim corresponding to the Hebrew spelling of the name of the person one is praying for, whether that be themselves or someone else (i.e. someone who is sick or is in need of help). Furthermore, some say the corresponding Pesukim to the name of the deceased and then those for the word נשמה (soul) when visiting a grave.
